What an eSIM is

A SIM card built into your phone that you activate by scanning a code. Nothing to post and nothing to swap. Your usual SIM stays where it is, so you keep your own number for calls and texts while your data comes from us.

Will it work on my phone?

You need a phone that supports eSIM and is not locked to a carrier. Most phones sold since around 2019 qualify: iPhone XS and later, recent Pixels, and recent Samsung Galaxy S and Z models.

The quickest check is to dial *#06#. If an EID appears alongside the IMEI, your phone takes an eSIM.

When should I install it?

This is the one thing worth reading carefully, because it depends on the plan.

• Most plans start when you first connect abroad. Install those before you fly — it is far easier on your home wi-fi than in an airport.
• Some plans start the moment they are installed. Install those on the day your trip begins, or you will spend days of the plan sitting at home. We label these on every plan page and again on the eSIM itself.

How do I install it?

Three ways, and only one has to work: tap the install link on the phone itself, scan the QR code from another screen, or type in the two values we show you. You get all three.

Why does my data usage look wrong?

Our network partner recalculates usage every few hours rather than instantly, so the figure here lags what your phone reports. We always show when it was last updated. Your phone’s own counter is the live one.
